Description
The tiny old town of Lucca has a particular charm that you hardly will find elsewhere. The city wall of Lucca has preserved its art treasures nearly intact and prevented that these could be altered in the course of the time. Among these, it is worth mentioning: Piazza Anfiteatro with its characteristic oval shape, the Guinigi Tower and the medieval buildings, the cathedral of San Martino, the beautiful San Michele and Palazzo Pfanner which was chosen by many film directors as location for their films such as the popular “Portrait of a Lady” by Jane Campion starring Nicole Kidman.
Besides the historic sites, Lucca is also well known for being the hometown of the musician Giacomo Puccini, whose operas are famous worldwide
