Sometimes the map indicates only the area and not the exact location of the property
On the route between Santa Marina and Malfa, on the most discreet and yet most sophisticated of the seven Aeolian Islands – Salina – is where this splendid villa is situated, in a location without compare. Homer tells of how Odysseus met the custodian of the winds Aeolus on his travels, who lived right here on Salina. Salina, fascinating and reserved island standing in the middle of the Aeolian archipelago, is made up of two - so far extinct - volcanoes: Monte Fossa delle Felci (the Mount Pit of the Ferns) and Monte dei Porri (the Mount of the Leeks) from whose peculiar conic shape derives the ancient name of the island, Didyme. Placidly lying on the sea, it inspires calm and peacefulness…a great scenery characterized by breath-taking landscapes, evocative sunsets and surreal silences where time seems to lapse slowly, far away from worldliness.Salina is the greenest island of the archipelago… where the capers - exported all over the world - are cultivated and the vineyards producing the Malvasia (Malmsey), esteemed and d.o.c. labelled dessert wine defined as the nectar of the gods, overlook the place. Particularly worth visiting are: the beach of Pollara, the most beautiful bay of the island and the mount Fossa delle Felci, natural reserve in the present days, whose summit is 982 metres high and offers astonishing panoramas: from the Aeolian archipelago as far as the northern coast of Sicily with the majestic volcano Etna.
This is a stunning property built from local materials - such as lava stone door frames - and a maritime white and blue colour scheme characterise the house, with a gorgeous corner fireplace dominating the living area. All rooms in the villa lead out onto the terrace: during the days and the balmy evenings, the wonderful sea view is irresistible. Under the protection of the reed roof, the terrace is the perfect spot for a siesta, reading or simply enjoying the “dolce far niente”. By night the terrace is your own private observatory for admiring the unforgettable starry skies above the island. If you don’t want to enjoy all this alone, why not invite friends or family to stay at the bungalow which is located separately on the same property and also available for rent.
