The city has a monumental-looking, because of the past colonizations of Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and Normans, but it has also, at the same time, a lively atmosphere due to its proximity of Marina Di Modica, considered a surfers’ paradise. If during the day long, golden beaches offer restful sunbathing, when the sun goes down the bars, discos, restaurants and night spots come alive for fun hot summer evenings. In the surroundings there are also the locations where the famous TV series “Commissario Montalbano” (a character created by the Sicilian writer Andrea Camilleri) is filmed, like Pozzallo, a town renowned for its sandy beaches, and Sampieri, a characteristic, old fishing village.
