Francesco BORETTI

Born in a village close to Florence, Francesco Boretti spent his life between Tuscany and Liguria. At a very young age, he fought in the Second World War, first as a partisan in the surroundings of Florence, then on the so-called Gothic Line as an officer-interpreter for the English Eighth Army. A teacher of Gymnastics, he eventually graduated in Natural Sciences. A self-taught artist, in 1960 he started devoting himself to painting: at the beginning, he used gloomy and monochromatic tones that reflected a very sad moment of his existence, but when life finally acquired a meaning for him, his artwork bursted out in a phantasmagoria of colours and sensations
