Over the past two years, I have concentrated on painting nudes. I Currently work mainly with the human figure and portraiture working from life and photographs. I am aiming to move more towards landscapes. I try to represent and recreate the human form with a kind of atmosphere relevant to the figures environment. This environment can be physical, mental or emotional. Often simple compositions with minimum forms hide a more complex situation. Frequently I find there is no great plan to a painting, maybe just a composition that feels comfortable to start with. As the weeks and months go by the various emotions I experience go into the piece, then the story behind it manifests in to the painting and the piece becomes clear to me.
