I am interested in the dimension of which Nature is a special case. My paintings deal with the ability of art to express complex, resonant meaning through the use of simple, abstract gestures and signs. The Rhapsodies, a series of fifteen large-scale paintings from 1986, are partly about nature and partly about primary concepts. They explore the transformation of impulse into form as primal idea acts upon matter, expressing both.
