THE LINES OF SENSES Female world is very complex. In a woman's soul a lot of discourses are related to each other and certainties and doubts live in it: everything and quite opposite to everything. Time ago the advertisement of a well - Known perfume said, more or less: "l am a complicated simple woman". l think this sentence contains alI women's contrad ictions, which are paradoxically linked by a meaningful coherence. Giuseppina Riggi's works take shape in this world made of mental lucubrations, contrasting feelings and a complete consciousness of her own seductive power and body. As a sensible woman with a strong personality she can combine artistic creativeness with her own ego. There is a patient study of shapes and the effect of their combinations in her works. Her work aims to dissect, locate, extrapolate, study, simplify, elaborate from a formal point of view and classify the elements characterizing our body, in order to create, afterwards, a new composition. Like in a puzzle, after putting in order and then in disorder, Giuseppina Riggi has "examined" carefully some parts of the woman's body, those parts which usually produce growing levels in male hormones. The neck, the breast, the hips, the pubes, alI these parts have been transformed into graphic signs, a fusion of throbs and sensual depths. Not by chance some cycles of hers have the following titles: "erogenous fields" and "inmost shapes". She claims to be a woman. She wants to communicate her own intimate world to which you can "access" only having the right password In a never-ending game of hidding signs, a quick-eyed observer sees stormy embraces into which the sequence of emotions is disturbed by an orgasmic unconsciousness. lt has been interesting to observe how the graphic elaboration of the two breasts has been transformed into an ellipse and, at the same time, the shape of the vulva and the ovule is related to it. The same shape which is divided into two equal parts gives birth to two divergent spermatozoons; you mean alI parts of our organism are connected by formal harmonious correspondences arousing our interest in the elements we can find of our own in those who are in front of us. Ovals, spirals, x', s, circles, fast signs, drawn without hesitation and sometimes stressed thanks to an increasing pressure by hand , take shape in images following one another scanned by precise rules in composition. What l have stated before does not change if related to the cycle whose title is " scripts of senses". l would underline that Giuseppina does not put in evidence the ability to synthesize shape but she emphasizes the sensations it produces and receives. "Letters or figures", can be considered as sensory parts of a woman's body. She speaks about herself as a woman and in her works you can find female world expanding endlessly. Her grids are tales of her intimate thoughts, of simple and complicated fancies where lines of force and writing sensations can be traced. As an artist she wants to assert herself in alI fields and over the time; she dominates the space around her, fecunding with her power the world. She uses traditional materials such as animal glue, plaster, terra-cotta, pigments, wood, graphite, cloth. The range of colours is not wide and blue prevails. lt is the same colour of liquid elements and air, a breaking force having a generating and destructive power, amniotic liquid apparently calm. Giuseppina Riggi can exploit the potential of this noble pigment and its intellectual profundity. As a quiet and breaking colour, a key used to reach unbounded spaces close to women, blue is put next to clear bright white, energetic yellow, to the warmth of wood and terra-cotta. This artist from San Cataldo uses living structures. Giuseppina has been working at a national artistic level for several years and she has received a ( more and more) increasing consensus with her pictures and installations. l met Giuseppina many years ago and l was attracted by her manners. Being aware of her humanity and her artistic value she was able to find a space in the world of art.
