The Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano stands at the extreme periphery of the Roman historical center. Famous for its archeology, the area is less knows for its touristic attractions. The architecture is less typical then the historical center's one and buildings are quite modern. The quarter is well connected by public transportations. The Re di Roma piazza and the Via Appia Nuova are two nevralgic points and famous as commercial centers. There are a lot of shops for a pleasant and various shopping. Prices are more reasonnable than in the center.

The arecheological visit of the Appia is really interesting. After only a few minutes by car, we can reach Castelli Romani, a typical area, famous for its small medieval villages.
By night, the atmosphere is very nice and fun. In San Giovanni, there are a lot of pubs, restaurants and bars of any kind.
